Police are looking for witnesses after a 17-year-old man was stabbed Friday night in Surrey.

The victim was on 134th Street near 72nd Avenue when he was approached by a stranger who asked him for a cigarette, according to RCMP in Surrey.

When the teen said he did not have any, the stranger allegedly hit the young man in the head and then stabbed him in the abdomen.

Police say the teen was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
