The Lower Mainland's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been called to the site where a badly burned body has been found in Surrey, B.C.

The remains were found Sunday near Colebrook Road and 125th Street.

"Initial response by the Surrey RCMP uniformed members determined that the found body was likely the victim of a homicide," said IHIT spokesman Cpl. Bari Emam.

“At this point I am confirming that IHIT is taking over the case from the Surrey RCMP," Emam said. "We are only hours into this investigation and cannot confirm the gender or the identity of the victim.”
