A hang-glider pilot whose passenger plunged to her death last year appeared briefly in court in Chilliwack, B.C., this morning on a charge of criminal negligence causing death.
Jon Orders, 50, did not speak during the appearance. He is expected back in court on March 12.
Lenami Godinez-Avila, 27, fell 300 metres to her death shortly after takeoff from a mountainside near the community of Agassiz last April.
It's alleged she hadn’t been properly tethered to the craft by Orders before they took off.
Orders was charged with criminal negligence causing death on Friday. He was already facing an obstruction of justice charge for allegedly swallowing a memory card that was believed to contain a video of the fatal flight.
