Langley police investigate attempted abductions

A composite sketch of the suspect in the attempted abduction of February 1 (Langley RCMP)The Langley Serious Crimes Unit is investigating two recent attempted abductions of young girls, which they believe may be connected.
The most recent incident took place February 1 when a man tried to grab a 12-year-old girl as she walked alone in the 5100 block of 205 Street.
The young girl said the man was leaning against his truck at the side of the road and grabbed her wrist as she passed by.
The girl escaped by pushing him away, before running home. No words were exchanged during the altercation.
Possible connection
Police say the case is likely linked to another attempted abduction, which occurred on October 31 in the Fort Langley area.
In that case, another 12-year-old girl was standing near a cemetery when a man approached her and grabbed her wrist. She screamed, kicked him in the shin and also managed to get away.
Again no words were exchanged, but on this occasion, no vehicle was sighted.
A composite sketch of the suspect in the attempted abduction of Oct. 31, 2012 (Langley RCMP)The suspect is described as white, in his 30s with scruffy brown hair, a stocky build and a scratch on the right side of his face.
He was driving a white pickup truck with a large dent on the rear passenger side near the tailgate and a dent on the driver’s side door with scratches surrounding it.
Police say he was wearing a black zip-up hoody, dark blue jeans, white Nike runners and a silver banded watch.
A sketch artist drew a picture of the suspect, which is similar to a suspect in a previous incident which occurred on Oct. 31 last year.
Police are asking the public to call Langley RCMP or, if they wish to remain anonymous, leave a tip with Crimestoppers at http://www.solvecrime.ca/.
