Police name victim of East Vancouver homicide

Police have identified the man who died after being assaulted Saturday near the intersection of Commercial Drive and Venables Street in Vancouver.
Sgt. Randy Fincham said 59-year-old Michael Charles Gregory of Vancouver suffered serious injuries in the assault and was declared dead in hospital.
Locals said Gregory was a longtime member and volunteer at the Kettle Friendship Society on Venables Street.
No charges have been laid, but police arrested a 27-year-old man Saturday in connection with the assault.
Fincham said the investigation is ongoing.
