B.C. Liberal candidate facing tax charges

A former MP acclaimed to run for the B.C. Liberals in the May provincial election is charged with six counts of failing to comply with the Income Tax Act.
Sukh Dhaliwal was charged last October, just weeks before the B.C. Liberal Party announced he would be their candidate in the riding of Surrey-Panorama.
His wife Roni is facing 14 counts. Both stand accused of failing to file taxes for a business they ran together for many years.
Dhaliwal has reportedly said he didn't handle the day-to-day running of the company and is doing what he can to straighten the matter out.
He apparently also still plans to run for the Liberals in the Surrey-Panorama riding, currently held by Children and Families Minister Stephanie Cadieux, who is slated to run elsewhere.
Dhaliwal and his wife are scheduled to make their next court appearance on Feb. 21.
