5 injured in Highway 1 collision

Five people were transported to hospital early Sunday after a multi-vehicle traffic accident on Highway 1 in Burnaby.
The collision occurred about 1 a.m. PT as emergency crews were attending to a motorcycle accident in the eastbound lanes between the Gagliardi and Kensington exits.
First responders had been investigating a motorcycle accident in the other lane when the second collision occurred. (Shane MacKichan/CBC)An SUV slammed into an RCMP cruiser that was stopped in the westbound HOV lane with its emergency lights flashing, police said.
Three people who were in the SUV were taken to hospital, along with two people from the motorcycle accident.
No police officers are believed to be hurt in the crash.
