Gold medallist joins anti-smoking campaign

A new anti-smoking campaign featuring Olympic gold-medal skier Ashleigh McIvor was launched Saturday on the slopes of Mount Seymour in North Vancouver.
McIvor has joined forces with the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority to encourage skiers and snowboarders to butt out while they're on local mountains.
McIvor said she has never smoked — and doesn't appreciate it when others do in and around mountain ski runs.
"It just frustrates me. I think that a lot of people don't realize the impact that their second-hand smoke has on others and I feel like if they did realize that, they would be more considerate," McIvor said.
"We're out to enjoy the fresh air and take in the scenery and be active and be healthy and it just kind of ruins my day when the person in front of me on the chairlift is smoking, because I'm riding up right in their cloud of second-hand smoke.
The new program aims to convince young skiers and snowboarders that it's better to enjoy sports in the fresh air.
