Charges laid in flooding of Vancouver highrise

The water main was opened on the top floor of the Max on Wednesday. (CBC)Vancouver police say charges have been laid in relation to the flood that caused extensive damage to a high-rise apartment building in downtown Vancouver on Wednesday.
Salvador Villarreal-Gomez, 24, has been charged with mischief over $5,000. He was arrested on Thursday.
A standpipe intended to be used only by firefighters was opened on the top floor of 35-storey The Max condominium tower on Beatty Street, sending torrents of water down through the building.
The flooding damaged the hallways and an unknown number of suites and stopped some of the elevators from working.
