Carbon monoxide suspected in B.C. boat death

A 58-year-old man was found dead and his partner was found unconscious on a boat docked at Halfmoon Bay on B.C.'s Sunshine Coast.
Barb McLintock, with the B.C. Coroners Service, says her office was called in Sunday after the two were found aboard the boat in a small boathouse at a marina.
The owner of the boatyard saw the engine was running, and then found the two men unresponsive aboard the boat and alerted emergency personnel.
"They did have the engine of the boat running and at some point, then, they were found and one of them was ill and taken to hospital and the other one, unfortunately, ended up deceased," McLintock said.
The B.C. Coroners Service identified the deceased man as 58-year-old Rodrick Boggs, of West Vancouver. His partner was transported to Vancouver General Hospital for treatment.
The Coroners Service is now trying to determine if carbon monoxide poisoning is to blame.
McLintock said it is possible the engine exhaust ended up in the boat cabin, and that the men were overcome by the exhaust fumes.
