Police may have caught a lucky break in a fatal hit and run in Mission, B.C., on Sunday afternoon, after a suspect was arrested on other charges.
The 65-year-old woman was walking with her husband near 14th Avenue and Caribou Street when she was struck and killed. Police recovered a blue 2007 Honda Accord believed to have been involved in the collision.
Sgt. Glen Carrier says on Wednesday night a person of interest in the death was arrested on other charges.
"Last night a 25-year-old Mission resident was arrested for break and enter and uttering threats, and he is also a person of interest in regards to our fatal investigation that we are currently involved with."
Police have provided no other details about the links between the two cases. The 25-year-old has not been formally charged, and his name has not been released.
The death was one of several hit and run incidents in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley in recent days. One other woman was killed and two other women were injured in two other separate hit-and-run incidents in the Metro region since Sunday.
On Thursday police released video from the Surrey, B.C., intersection where two joggers were mowed down Monday night by a hit-and-run driver.
The suspect vehicle is described as a white SUV, which is seen in the video at about 7:50 p.m. PT turning left and plowing into the two joggers as they crossed the street.
