Mounties in Kamloops, B.C., say the driver of a pickup truck that struck and killed a 66-year-old pedestrian Wednesday was driving with a prohibited license.

The pedestrian, whose name has not been released, was in a marked crosswalk in the area of 6th Avenue and Victoria Street when she was hit at around 5:30 p.m. PT.

The woman was taken to Royal Inland hospital, where she died from her injuries.

Police say drugs and alcohol are not factors in the crash.

No decision has been made on whether the driver will be charged for driving while prohibited and failing to yield for a pedestrian.
