Calgary man charged in fatal Whistler crash

A Calgary man has been charged with impaired and dangerous driving for a fiery crash that killed a limousine driver in Whistler, B.C., last January.
Jacob Mitzimberg 20, is facing one charge of impaired driving causing death and one charge of dangerous driving causing death.
Police allege Mitzimberg was high on drugs when his pick-up truck struck the limo on Highway 99 near Function Junction south of Whistler on Jan. 28, 2012.
The driver of the limo, Shafiqur Rhaman, 54 of Delta B.C., was trapped inside the vehicle as it exploded in flames. Rahman was married and the father of two boys.
Mitzimberg is scheduled to appear in court in North Vancouver on Dec. 5 to face the charges.
High on LSD
According to court documents filed in February, the driver of the truck told police he took a couple of doses of LSD a few hours before the crash.
The document say he remembered going to a pizza restaurant but recalled nothing else after that until he was in hospital following the collision.
Friends of the suspect told investigators he had also consumed between 10 and 15 cans of beer in the hours before the crash, the documents said.
The documents said the truck driver was not seriously injured and was seen walking along the middle of the highway after the collision. A passing driver took him back to the accident site and called police.
