Langley Mounties seize $500K in cocaine

Langley Mounties seized 21 kilograms of cocaine from hockey bags left in a ditch near the U.S. border. (Dave Martin/Associated Press/Canadian Press)Mounties in Langley, B.C., have seized around $500,000 worth of cocaine — but don't have any suspects.
Police say they received an anonymous tip last Thursday that three people in a van threw three hockey bags in a ditch near 8th Avenue and 204th Street, close to the U.S. border.
Police recovered two of the bags, which contained about 21 one-kilogram bricks of cocaine.
Cpl. Holly Marks says there were no fingerprints on the bags and without a license plate number for the van, police don't have any information to lead them to the suspects.
"As you can imagine, nobody's come forward to claim the drugs as being their own, so at this point we're just pleased that these drugs have been removed from the street and won't be able to harm anyone."
Marks says the drugs could be linked to cross-border drug trafficking.
