Homicide investigators are asking for the public's help in identifying a woman found dead last month in North Vancouver.

An area resident came across the partially concealed body on a gravel foot path near the 2000-block of Curling Road on August 18.

On Wednesday, police said it had been determined the woman had not been reported missing, and released a sketch of what they believe she may have looked like.

"The facial approximation starts with looking at the landmarks of the skull … we use certain tissue markers," said Stephen Fonseca with the B.C. Coroners Service.

"It's important for the public to realize that the person could have looked different in real life. What I'm hoping they look at is the proportion of the eyes and nose."

Sgt. Jennifer Pound with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says the woman was wearing clothes that appear to be from Europe, so investigators are contacting agencies around the world in hopes of identifying her.

"There's a lot of different databases that we tap into," Pound said. "We have the ability to reach national and international levels, so we're not leaving any stones unturned."

Pound won't say how the woman died, but says the body could have been in the spot it was found for months or even years.

The woman is described as being between five feet two and five feet six inches tall with a small frame, in her mid 20s to early 40s with shoulder length wavy black hair.

"Somewhere out there is a family waiting for this young woman to come home," Pound said. "We need the public to help us identify her and assist investigators in moving this investigation forward."
