On Wednesday officials said the centre has been re-named the Fortius Athlete's Development Centre and is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2013.

The centre will be a fully integrated sports medicine, science and training facility serving everyone from amateur to elite athletes. The total cost for the project is estimated to be $61 million.

The centre, which is being built near the Eight Rink facility, was originally scheduled to be completed four years ago but ran into financial difficulties.
