Flying out of Coal Harbour in Vancouver on Harbour Air is soon going to be more convenient, but it also is going to be more expensive.

The float plane company has reached an agreement with the B.C. Pavilion Corporation to use the new float plane terminal at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

When the company starts flying out of the facility at the end of the year, passengers will see an extra $9.50 added to fares for each flight starting or ending at the new terminal.

Harbour Air, which runs both scheduled and charter flights, had been refusing to use the terminal because of Pavco’s demand for rent and a $12-per-ticket fee, which has now been negotiated down to the new price.

"We've done the best we could," said Harbour Air vice president Randy Wright. "The fee's the fee and we'll be collecting on behalf of the [Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre.]"

Currently, planes fly out of a temporary dock along the sea wall.
