Man drives pick-up truck into New Westminster ER

Police in New Westminster, B.C., are investigating after a man drove his pick-up truck through the doors of the emergency department at Royal Columbian Hospital.
Staff Sgt. Todd Matsumoto says the incident happened at about 1:30 a.m. PT Sunday.
He says it’s not clear if the man was having physical or mental health issues, or whether the crash was intentional.
“The truck came to rest about 50 feet into the lobby area of the hospital, causing significant damage to the door and interior walls,” Matsumoto said.
“No injuries were reported as a result of this event. The driver is currently being medically assessed. Our police investigation is ongoing to determine what, if any, charges are appropriate.”
The man's name has not been released.
Officials say the incident has not affected service at the hospital.
