Son charged after mother's remains found in B.C.

The son of a Chinese woman missing in B.C. since June has been charged with murder following the discovery of her remains in a suitcase on an island northwest of Vancouver, police say.
Lianjie Guo, 47, was declared missing on June 7, the day she was scheduled to fly back to China after she and her husband visited their son in Vancouver.
Guo's remains were found July 20 on Harwood Island, north of Powell River, B.C., police said
Her son, Yuan Xi Tang, 25, has been charged with her first-degree murder and counselling to commit an indictable offence.
The investigation included the RCMP's liaison officer in Beijing, and police have been in continuous contact with the Chinese consulate, Kevin Hackett, officer in charge of B.C.'s Integrated Homicide Investigation team, said in a statement.
Sgt. Jennifer Pound, a spokeswoman for the team, said police believe the suspect was also trying to have his father killed, which is why, in addition to the murder charge, Tang also faces the charge of counselling to commit an indictable offence.
Pound said Yuan Xi Tang came to Canada on a student visa in 2006
