A 78-year-old man and his two dogs are dead after his car veered off the road and burst into flames on Cortes Island, B.C.
The RCMP believe the man was travelling along Gorge Harbour Road when his vehicle left the road and plunged down an embankment before catching fire on Sunday afternoon.
By the time emergency crews arrived, the man, a Cortes Island resident, and his two dogs were dead.
Cortes Island is one of the Discovery Islands, which lie beyond the northern end of the Strait of Georgia between Vancouver Island and the mainland.
The incident is being investigated by the RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service.
