Abbotsford police are trying to identify a suspect who allegedly assaulted two boys in a washroom at the Abbotsford airport on Wednesday afternoon.

According to police the two brothers, aged six and nine, entered the men's washroom near the arrivals area inside terminal.

"Both boys were positioned in front of urinals when a teenage male approached. The suspect grabbed at the genital area of the younger brother and then quickly bit the stomach area of the older sibling," said a statement issued by Const. Ian MacDonald.

Police says they are now trying identify the suspect, who may have special needs and be in the care of a guardian or caregiver.

"The teenaged suspect appeared to have been accompanied by an older male who physically escorted him out of the washroom immediately following the incidents," said the statement.

"A witness felt that it was possible that the suspect had special needs and that the older man was either his guardian or caregiver," said police.

Police describe the pair as:

• A teenaged Caucasian male, 13 to 16 years old, thin build, 5’4” to 5’8”, short brown hair, with prominent front teeth or braces, wearing a red short sleeved shirt or T-shirt with blue pants.
• An older Caucasian male, 50 to 60 years old, grey hair with a grey beard, wearing a dark coloured shirt with a “CAT” logo on it.

Police say they don't think the incident is linked to a similar incident last October when a boy was bitten by a youth in an Abbotsford Costco washroom.

In that incident a 10-year-old boy allegedly crawled under the partition of a locked stall and attacked a seven-year-old boy. The alleged attacker never said a word, but bit the victim's lip so badly it required stitches, according to police.

Police say the suspects in the two incidents do not have the same description.
