A five-year-old Victoria girl made a heroic 911 call to police when her mother had an epileptic seizure, police say.

Rebekah Simpson called 911, out of breath and crying.

"My mommy fell down in the backyard and she wouldn't get up," the girl told the dispatcher, according to a recording of the call released by the RCMP.

"How old are you hon?" the dispatcher asks, to which she replies: "I'm five."

West Shore RCMP Cpl. Antonio Hernandez says the dispatcher kept the child on the line and was able to determine the location of the home in the Victoria-area community of Langford, B.C.

The child was able to relay details about the emergency, including the fact that her younger siblings were there.

"One of my brothers is one, and one of my brothers is three... my daddy is at work," she says.

"[There's] no blood on my mom," she says. "You think you can come here?"

Emergency crews responded and found the girl's 31-year-old mother lying on the patio.

RCMP Sgt. Danny Willis says the mother had suffered an epileptic seizure, and has since been treated and released from hospital.

This afternoon, Rebekah Simpson was a special guest at the local RCMP detachment, where she was given a trauma bear.

"She was able to meet the dispatcher and the dispatcher was able to talk to her face to face and tell her how proud she was of the fact that she called and she answered the questions," Willis said.

The little girl told the dispatcher that her grandmother taught her how to dial 911.
