3 charged with attempted murder in Okanagan car chase

RCMP say two men and one woman have been charged with three counts each of attempted murder after firing at officers and leading police on a high speed-pursuit through the Okanagan toward Vernon. (CBC)

Two men and a 19-year-old woman have each been charged with three counts of attempted murder following a violent high-speed car chase through the Okanagan on Tuesday, Southeast District RCMP have confirmed.
Michael Edward Ellis, 39, and Shawn Adam Wysinski, 32, both of no fixed address, have been charged with three counts of attempted murder with a firearm, committing an offence where a firearm is used in the commission, operating a motor vehicle while being pursued by police, failing to stop in order to evade police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Ashley Collins, 19, of Kelowna, B.C., has been charged with three counts of attempted murder and committing an offence where a firearm is used in the commission.
Collins is currently recovering in hospital following surgery for a gunshot wound she received while the trio allegedly exchanged gunfire with RCMP during a high-speed car chase along a narrow winding road on the west side of Okanagan Lake.
Officers from the New Westminster Police department were also called in to investigate the force used by the West Kelowna officers during the pursuit.
They have not said if Collins' wound came from shots fired by an officer, or someone else in the vehicle.
