A Vancouver social media marketing company has joined a campaign called Keep it Real — an effort to counter the effect of unrealistically thin body images reinforced in many women’s magazines.

Lovesocial is hosting a three-day online campaign of its own, asking young women to tweet, blog and send in photos of themselves as they are, un-airbrushed or Photoshopped.

As the CBC’s Deborah Goble reports, the goal these efforts is to get fashion magazines to publish just one un-airbrushed photo a month.
