Woman files complaint after police dog bites daughter
A police dog bit a 12-year-old girl while searching for suspect in alleged bear mace attack

The New Westminister Police Department is investigating a complaint about a girl being bitten by a police dog in Prince George.
The incident happened on May 11 when Prince George RCMP responded to a call that two women were allegedly sprayed in the face with bear mace at a local carnival.
Police and a service dog searched the area for the suspect.
"The dog and handler established a track which led them to a locked compound where a suspect was located," Sgt. Rob Vermuelen said in a press release.
The dog assisted in the arrest of the suspect, who turned out to be a 12-year-old girl.
During the arrest, RCMP say the police dog bit the girl on the leg.
She was treated for the bite wound at the hospital. In early June, the girl's mother made a formal complaint about the arrest.
The Commission for Public Complaints Against the RCMP was notified, and the New Westminster Police Department was asked to undertake the investigation into the incident.
The Prince George RCMP force faced scrunity for a use-of-force incident involving another youth last year.
In 2011, the West Vancouver Police Department investigated the circumstances that led to an 11-year-old boy being stunned with a Taser by an RCMP officer in Prince George.
In that case, the police force found the Prince George RCMP member's use of force was lawful.
