Missing gun recovered by Vancouver police

Police would not say how they retrieved the missing handgun except to say it was recovered on the Dowtown Eastside. (Vancouver Police Department)Vancouver police have recovered an officer’s firearm that had been lost in a foot chase on Wednesday.
At about 1 p.m. PT Friday, patrol officers recovered the missing firearm and ammunition in the Downtown Eastside, spokeswoman Const. Jana McGuinness said Friday.
McGuinness said that where the gun was found, and the source of the information, are not being disclosed for investigative reasons.
"Thanks to the investigative skill of very experienced beat patrol officers we have the pistol safely back in our possession," McGuinness said.
No one has been charged in connection with the recovery of the weapon.
Police said Thursday that the Sig Sauer P226 pistol was lost during a foot chase after plainclothes officers had witnessed a drug deal near Oppenheimer Park.
A man had been seen by a witness picking up the firearm, McGuinness said.
