A seven-year-old girl is being monitored in hospital after possibly ingesting the date rape drug GHB Saturday night.
Langley RCMP were called to a home in the 5500 block of 209th Street just after 9 p.m. PT.
Emergency crews found the girl unconscious inside the home and rushed to hospital.
Police have released few details but say they are investigating the possibility the girl may have accidentally consumed the date rape drug.
"We have conducted some very preliminary interviews," said RCMP Cpl. Holly Marks.
"We do believe the child may have ingested GHB, the date rape drug, and it may have been contained in a water bottle within the residence. She was taken to hospital and it's anticipated that she will make a full recovery."
The Ministry of Children and Family Development has been notified of the incident.
"Any number of charges could be considered — criminal negligence, the possession of the drug itself, child endangerment," said RCMP Cpl. Holly Marks.
"There's a plethora of charges that could be considered, but at this point I'd be speculating to suggest we would be recommending any of them."
