More than 1,000 teddy bears went up for sale at a North Delta, B.C., church Saturday to raise money for charity.

The collection was once owned by Sherry Crooks, a retired Vancouver school teacher who died of cancer just three months after she was diagnosed with the disease.

"Her dream ... was to donate the bears to BC Children's Hospital and Canuck Place," said daughter-in-law Kerry Crooks.

"They couldn't take all the bears, it was just too much inventory for them, so we are selling off the collection and donating the money."

The bears ranged in price from $1 to $100.
