Powerful winds are once again battering the West Coast, forcing BC Ferries to cancel or delay sailings on several smaller routes all the way from the North Coast down to Vancouver Island.

Environment Canada says the winds should ease over the Sunshine and Central coasts and across the island by noon. But another storm packing gusts of up to 110 kilometres per hour will rattle the North Coast and Haida Gwaii by Tuesday evening.

The winds have also prompted an advisory for Pacific Rim National Park near Tofino, with storm watchers advised to take special care during Wednesday's noon-time high tide because waves of up to eight metres could thunder ashore.

BC Ferries has cancelled or delay the following sailings because of the winds:

• Campbell River-Quadra Island
• Comox-Powell River
• Cortes Island-Quadra Island.
• Crofton-Salt Spring Island
• Hornby Island-Denman Island
• Powell River-Texada
• Prince Rupert-Queen Charlotte Island
