One year after an 18-year-old Vancouver Island teen was killed, the case remains unsolved.

Tyeshia Jones disappeared near Duncan, B.C., on Jan. 22, 2011. The teen's body was found six days later in a wooded area near a graveyard on Cowichan Tribes land.

The teen's death has put the community on edge, with police still warning young women to be vigilant but saying little else.

"We understand that the public want more and they have a desire to know more, but it's not the time to share that yet," said RCMP Cpl. Darren Lagan.

Although no arrests have been made, Lagan said the investigation into the teen's death is still very active.

"The investigators certainly are not spinning their wheels on this. They are moving forward in a specific direction," he said.

"We understand that the community and Tyeshia's family in particular want to know the answers. But protecting the integrity of that information is the important part, the most important part, for our investigators."

Cowichan Tribes has raised $10,000 dollars for a reward for information leading to an arrest.
