Pilot dies in B.C. helicopter crash

An RCMP helicopter pilot involved in an emergency exercise in B.C.'s Fraser Valley was killed when the aircraft crashed Tuesday.
The helicopter went down just before 2 p.m. PT in a wooded area near Cultus Lake, about 85 kilometres east of Vancouver.
There were no other people on board.
Chief Superintendent Wayne Rideout says the pilot with "extensive experience" was returning to base after completing emergency training exercises.

The pilot was identified by the RCMP late Tuesday as David Brolin, 46. His hometown was not given. Brolin joined the force as a civilian pilot in 2007, the release said.
Transportation Safety Board spokesman Bill Yearwood said two investigators will head out to the site on Wednesday morning to begin an investigation into the incident.
