Police are investigating after the discovery of human remains by a BC Hydro crew on Department of National Defence Property in Langley.

The crew was in a rural area on Monday, pruning trees hindering BC Hydro lines, when workers discovered what appeared to be a human skull.

Police at the scene confirmed the skull was human, but it's not known how long the remains had been there.

The perimeter around the discovery area has been secured and Forensic Identification Officers are scouring the area for any further evidence.

The RCMP are working with military police to try to determine the identity of the remains and how the person died.
