RCMP have recommended charges against a man who allegedly abducted and sexually assaulted a Kamloops woman.
The woman was reported missing by friends after they couldn't find her at her workplace on Wednesday. They found the door to the sex boutique where she works had been left unlocked and the woman's belongings inside, but her car was missing.
The woman was later found crying and shoeless in the Westmount neighbourhood of Kamloops, seven kilometres from the boutique.
Police say a suspect is in police custody. Charges of kidnapping, sexual assault, aggravated assault with a weapon and uttering threats have been forwarded to Crown counsel.
The man has not yet been identified by police, but they describe him as a high-risk sex offender who has been living with his mother in Kamloops.
Thursday, neighbours said a high risk offender named Jack Froese was arrested at his mother's home.
RCMP issued a warning to the community when Froese was released from a federal corrections institution to live in Kamloops six months ago. He has a long history of violent sexual assaults on women in Calgary and Saskatchewan.
