Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts has won her third straight term as mayor of B.C.'s second largest city with 81 per cent of the total vote. Watts won 23,884 votes, well ahead of her next rival who had 2,600 votes.

Watt's Surrey First slate also won all eight seats on council.

"I'm absolutely honoured to serve as your mayor for another three years," Watts told the crowd gathered at her campaign headquarters following her victory.

Watts went on to thank her campaign team, volunteers and fundraisers.

"All of the supporters who are in this room tonight — you made it happen and we are here because you have dedicated your time to us. Thank you so much," she said/

"We ran a clean campaign, we took the high road and we discussed the issues. And you know what? We really made Surrey First."

Watts, who injured her back in a horseback riding accident earlier this year, left shortly after her victory speech.

Watts was first elected in 2005 as the city's first female mayor when she ran as an independent and defeated incumbent Doug McCallum. She was first elected as a councillor in 1996.

In 2008, she created her own political slate called Surrey First and was re-elected along with six Surrey First councillors.
