Head-on Surrey highway crash kills 3

A man speeding the wrong way on Highway 10 in Surrey, B.C., killed himself and two other men in a head-on collision early Saturday morning.
Surrey RCMP Insp. Ken Marquardt said a female passenger survived the crash and was airlifted to hospital.
She is listed in serious condition.
Police received a call moments before the crash about a vehicle travelling in the wrong direction on 56th Ave, or highway 10, just west of King George Boulevard.
"At about 1:45 a.m. we had witnesses call in on our 911 line that they observed an erratic driver travelling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Highway 10 near 152nd," Marquardt said.
"While on the phone with our complaint-taker, one of the callers actually came across the accident scene at 136th."
Highway 10 was closed between 132nd Street and 136th Street for more than eight hours Saturday morning while RCMP investigated the crash site.

Police have not released more information about potential contributing factors, but said that the driver of the wrong-way vehicle was alone.
"One deceased is the lone occupant and driver of what I'm going to call the offending vehicle," Marquart said.
"In the victim vehicle, the driver and the front passenger are deceased, and the female passenger in the back is the lone survivor."
Police said the wrong-way driver was from the Lower Mainland and the three victims in the second car are from Vancouver Island.
