Residents of the Lower Mainland are being invited to sign a book of condolence and express grief together at the Scandinavian Community Centre in Burnaby, B.C.
The board of directors of the Norwegian House Society is holding a vigil Sunday, July 24, in the wake of the mass killings in Norway on Friday.
The vigil is for "anyone who wants to gather and support each other during this extremely difficult time," the board said in a written statement.
The vigil is being held at the Scandinavian Community Centre, at 6540 Thomas St. in Burnaby, from 12:30 p.m. PT onwards on July 24.
Anders Behring Breivik, 32, is accused of shooting and killing 93 adults and youths and wounding nearly 100 more at a youth retreat on Utoeya Island near Oslo, Norway, on Friday.
Seven other people were killed in a car bombing earlier Friday on Norway's government headquarters in Oslo.
Breivik's lawyer said he was motivated by a desire to bring about 'a revolution' in Norwegian society.
