Comox man stabbed to death after concert

A 19-year-old man died after being stabbed during a fight that took place Saturday night, as concertgoers left the Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds in Courtenay, B.C.
Comox Valley RCMP said that as crowds dispersed from the Rhythm on the Rock all-ages concert at 11:30 p.m. PT, "an altercation ensued between several males near the entrance to Vanier Secondary School."
A 16-year-old boy was arrested "within minutes" of the stabbing, less than a kilometre away.
The 19-year-old man, who is from Comox, died from his injuries at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Police will recommend that the Crown lay a charge of first-degree murder against the boy, who will not be named because of laws protecting the identities of young offenders. The 16-year-old had no previous history of violence or criminal activities, police said.
Police have not released the name of the victim.
