Conservation officers are in a remote community on B.C.'s central coast to investigate a grizzly bear attack that sent a man to hospital with broken bones, cuts and puncture wounds.

Four members of a predator-attack team arrived Tuesday night in Oweekeno, a small community located about 480 kilometres northwest of Vancouver, said conservation officer Doug Forsdick.

Forsdick said the officers have visited the attack site and are interviewing locals about grizzly bears.

A conservation officer has also interviewed survivor Johnny Johnson, who is in a Victoria hospital.
