Olympic anniversary party planned for Vancouver

The downtown section of Granville Street will be closed for the day on Feb. 12 — a Saturday — to enable people to take over the street once again, Robertson said.
There will also be free events at Robson Square, the Vancouver Art Gallery, in Yaletown and at the former Olympic Village in south False Creek.
At the Vancouver Convention Centre, the Olympic torch will be relit for the night.
Robertson said he expects thousands to turn up to recreate the spirit of the Games.
"I'm really optimistic that people are going to come out," he said.
"We are going to close streets. We are going to have performers, we are going to have street hockey and arts and cultural events and lots to celebrate, and there is no reason why everyone shouldn't come and celebrate all the amazing success we had last year."
Robertson said the cost will be modest because sponsors will be runnning many events.
Full details will be posted on the city's website soon, he said.
