RCMP said they seized about one million child pornorgraphy images on digital storage devices after searching the home. car and business of a Vancouver Island man. (CBC)RCMP say they are overwhelmed by the discovery of about one million pictures of child pornography found on the computers of a Ladysmith, B.C., man.
The 64-year-old was arrested after police executed search warrants at his business, in his car and at his home in the Vancouver Island community, about 100 kilometres north of Victoria.
The man's intensive online activity drew him to the attention of investigators, said Const. Gary O'Brien.
"These people are downloading images from the internet and every time, they leave a thumbprint," O'Brien said. "We have access, as do other agencies, to control and monitor the movements of the suspects."
He said officers seized 10 computers and several digital cameras, web cameras, DVDs and 29 hard drives, all containing sexually explicit images of minors.
O'Brien said investigators do not know if there are any images of children known to the man on the seized storage devices.
The name of the man has not been released.
