Power has been restored to thousands of customers in Vancouver after a massive outage snarled traffic and slowed trolley buses on Monday morning.

Officials with BC Hydro said about 26,000 customers south of Broadway between Cambie Street and Boundary Road lost power around 10:10 a.m. PT because of a problem at a substation.

Officials rerouted the power and restored service to most of the customers by 11:30 a.m., according to BC Hydro officials.

About 60,000 Vancouver-area customers also lost power on Saturday night because of a problem at the same substation, but officials are still investigating if the problems are connected.
