Vancouver police have issued a public warning after two women were sexually assaulted in the city's west side on Thursday morning.
Police say both attacks happened in the area of W. 7th Avenue, between Larch and Vine streets.
At approximately 2:15 a.m. PT, police say a 28-year-old woman was grabbed from behind, thrown to the ground and groped repeatedly.
The woman screamed and fought off her attacker, who ran away.
She described the assailant as a man around five feet ten inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black gloves.
Just 15 minutes later, about two blocks away, a 23-year-old woman was attacked.
Police say a man grabbed her from behind, covered her mouth with his hand and forced her to the ground where her groped her repeatedly. The suspect then ran away.
He is described as a Caucasian man, about five feet seven inches tall with a stocky build. He was wearing a red T-shirt.
Police say they believe the two incidents are related.
Police have set up a tip line in connection with the assaults. Anyone with information can call the sex crimes unit at 604-717-2648 or Crime Stoppers.
