After starting out in Victoria last fall and winding its way across the country, the torch crossed back into the province Thursday from Alberta.
Former Alberta Premier Peter Lougheed carried the torch for the last leg of the run in his province before handing it over to Wally Buono, the general manager and head coach of the B.C Lions of the Canadian Football League.
The flame will be carried through 268 B.C. communities over the next 22 days before ending its journey at BC Place stadium for the opening of the Games on Feb. 12.
About 12,000 people will have carried the flame on its 45,000-kilometre journey across Canada by the time the 106-day relay is complete.
