One pedestrian is dead and six others injured after six separate motor vehicle collisions in Vancouver Saturday night.

In the most serious incident, a 77-year-old man and a 79-year-old woman were struck while crossing mid-block in the 300 block of Prior Street at about 5:30 p.m. PT.

Both were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The man died while the woman remains in the hospital in critical but stable condition.

Police say the driver is co-operating with the investigation, and speed and alcohol are not considered factors. Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them at 604-717-3012.

The five other pedestrians injured in separate incidents Saturday were all taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Neither alcohol nor speed is considered a factor in any of the collisions.
