Prince Charles and Camilla are greeted by Vancouver 2010 Olympic mascots during a tour of the athletes village. (Darryl Dyck/Canadian Press)Prince Charles laughed at the antics of the 2010 Olympic mascots as he and his wife, Camilla, stood for a photo opportunity with them in Vancouver on Saturday.
The royal couple toured the Olympic village, the site where athletes will stay next February during the Vancouver Winter Games.
Arriving under a grey sky and drizzle, Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, were greeted at the village entrance by a group of First Nations drummers.
One of the drummers was overheard telling Camilla that they call the rain West Coast sunshine, just like the weather in England.
The couple will spend much of the day in Vancouver touring a health-care facility and visiting a botanical garden before returning to Victoria.
About 1,000 people gathered on the front lawn of the B.C. legislature in Victoria on Friday to greet the royals.
Charles said no visitor to the province can help but be struck by the natural beauty of what he called "this remarkable part of the world."
While this is Charles's 15th visit to Canada, it is his wife's first trip.
