One person is dead and another is in hospital after a shooting in Metro Vancouver early Saturday morning.
Police were called to a house party in the 10200 block of 152A Street in the Guildford area of Surrey, B.C., at approximately 4 a.m. PT.
When officers arrived on scene, they found two people suffering from gunshot wounds.
A woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while a man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
"Our team is conducting a homicide investigation. We will be at the scene … conducting neighbourhood inquiries, speaking to anybody who can help us," said Cpl. Dale Carr, who speaks for the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.
Carr said investigators have not established a motive for the shooting.
"What we are trying to sort out is exactly what happened. Is he [the injured male] an additional victim, [or] is he a suspect?" Carr said.
"There are a lot of questions that still need to be answered. At this point, though, it would appear that he is just another victim in the whole melee, if you will. However, we are not eliminating anybody at this point."
The names of the victims have not been released.
An autopsy on the woman is scheduled to take place Monday.
