A knife-wielding man was shot dead by Vancouver police on Friday night after a stun gun failed to stop him.
Police say Eugene Anthony Knight, 46, was shot and killed by police during a domestic dispute.
Officers were called to an apartment in the 2500 block of Birch Street at about 9:30 p.m. PT. Emergency-response operators reported hearing a woman screaming and shouting that her life was being threatened.
When police officers arrived at the scene, they forced their way into a suite and confronted Knight, who they say was holding a knife at his wife's throat.
One officer shocked Knight with a Taser stun gun, which police said proved to be ineffective. Two officers then fired their guns at Knight, fatally wounding him.
Knight's wife was not injured but her 13-year-old daughter was in the home at the time.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is investigating, and the Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner has been notified.
