Hunter Paul Harcus is wanted by Vancouver police, who warn he is considered dangerous. (Vancouver Police Department)Vancouver police have issued a public warning about a man who escaped from a Vancouver hospital psychiatric ward Aug. 25, was taken into custody Aug. 26, and now is being sought by authorities again.
Hunter Paul Harcus, 28, is a suspect in two armed robberies on Friday in Burnaby, Vancouver police Const. Jana McGuinness said in a news release.
"Harcus is believed to be in the Vancouver area now and poses a significant risk to public safety," McGuinness said. "Anyone who sees him should not approach and contact 911 immediately."
A release from McGuinness late Aug. 25 said Harcus escaped from a psychiatric ward at about 7:30 PT that evening.
The next day, police said Harcus had been taken into custody without incident at an apartment in the 7400 block of Fraser Street in Vancouver.
Police said Harcus was discharged from hospital Thursday, but then had become a suspect in the holdups.
Harcus is described as aboriginal, six feet tall and 285 pounds, with short, black hair and a heavy build. He has a large tattoo on the right side of his neck and teardrop tattoos under both eyes.
