Vancouver police say they have made two more arrests in an operation they call Project Rebellion, aimed at taking the city's most violent gang members off the streets.

Two alleged members of a crime group were arrested Aug. 6 and face 31 charges, most of them weapons-related, Insp. Mike Porteous said Thursday.

"We targeted people at [Project] Rebellion that we thought were the most active shooters in Vancouver," Porteous said at a news conference.

The police operation is also responsible for the arrests of six alleged members of another alleged crime group and the seizure of a number of weapons in April.

Police are making progress against gang violence but still have a lot more work to do, Porteous said.
