Thursday is the first day of tolling on Metro Vancouver's new Golden Ears Bridge. (CBC)The free ride is over for drivers using the new Golden Ears Bridge to cross the Fraser River between Surrey and Maple Ridge east of Vancouver.
The bridge opened on June 16 and was free for the first month.
Automatic electronic tolling will now ding car drivers between $2.75 and $3.90 per crossing. Large trucks will pay up to $9.40 per crossing, while motorcycles will pay $1.40 or more.
The cheapest rates will be for drivers who have registered for a Quickpass electronic transponder for their vehicle.
